3 reasons why Arsenal need to bench Jack Wilshere

Jack Wilshere has been completely outshined this season as a result of Aaron Ramsey's fine form, as well as the return of Matieu Flamini. Here are three reasons why the 21-year-old should be dropped.

    1) Square peg

Wilshere has been deployed on the left for the majority of the season, and he's not suited to it. His scrappy nature is ideal for the central areas, perhaps as one half of a double pivot, and he often looks lost in the wider areas.

He isn't blessed with pace, so when he receives the ball over on the flank he often cuts back in anyway, leaving the midriff crowded and lop-sided. Benching Wilshere and inserting a more creative outlet on the wing would balance the side up.

    2) Rest

There is no doubting that the midfielder is an integral part of the team. However, after the spell of injuries that he had, and the apparent speed in which he picks them up at, would suggest that every now and again the 21-year-old would benefit from a breather. Although the Gunners are suffering from a wave of injuries, meaning that Wilshere may not be dropped just yet, the Gunners have plenty of options to choose from.

    3) Arteta's fine form

Last season Arteta was one of the leading lights at the Emirates. Although the Spaniard was deployed in a deeper role he still created 25 opportunities and scored six goals, while accumulating a pass success of 91%.

Arteta has struggled with injury of late but is now back and ready, so to drop Wilshere in favour of Arteta, in my eyes, would be a good move.

My midfield for the Swansea game:

    -----Flamini-----Ramsey-----

    --Gnabry----Ozil-----Arteta--

Jack wilshere was involved in all three arsenal goals against stoke. The two free kicks that were converted were due to fouls on wilshere and the second goal which came frm a corner that jack wilshere won. Sorry but those are just the facts.
