3 Players Chelsea Need To Offload

With all the talent in the ranks at Chelsea, there are some players I consider not good enough for the squad, or at least who don't offer enough to warrant a place at the club. Here is an early look at who I believe the Blues should be getting rid of in January.

1) Fernando Torres

The Spaniard has had a hard time since he arrived in west London as a result of his gigantic costs, but I have always been supportive of the striker. However, this summer was the turning point. With Romelu Lukaku coming back I was certain that he'd lead our line this season. Torres has offered us next to nothing in his three appearances so far this season and slows down almost every single attack that he is involved with.

2) Demba Ba

Another forward who I want out of the club is Demba Ba, who has been nothing short of woeful since he joined the club. In my 19 years of supporting the Blues I've not seen many who offer less than the former Newcastle forward. He's slow, he can't pass and he doesn't score goals. Get rid.

3) Jon Obi Mikel

For me, Mikel isn't the player we need in the middle. Michael Essien is stronger, more attack-minded and more intelligent off the ball. I have nothing against Mikel, far from it, but with Ramires, Frank Lampard and Essien able to operate in the defensive midfielder role, as well as David Luiz, I think it's time for the Nigerian to find a new club.

I don't think if Mikel derseve to leave the club, I m not that much convinced with your argument at all, talk of Lampar, Ramiress and Essien, I have never see Lampard and Ramiress combination produsing a best sparks, Ramiress always shine under presence of Mikel, I can agree with RDM that, Mikel is unsung hero, Fantastic pass, marking probably even tackling, Lampard he can not defend at all, you can agree with me just based on the matches which Lampard played together with Ramiree and see the team performance. Obi he is a man, he can play 8 and 6. he know do his work despite of all critisms, A match with Beyern hope you can speak something about what happened at the mid under Lampard and Ramiress the same with Man u then compare with the match with Everton and try to compare the play, composure at the mid and possession as whole then judge, those are personal hate which to me I don't see a point to release Mikel, Morinho need to take thse words to bed as soon as possible.

I also don't agree about Mikel. at his worst he has been just solid in the middle of the park. his pass success ratio is probably the highest in england although most of his passes go sideways or back. I remember last seasons game against Man U Chelsea were two nil down in the first half. at the break Rafa brought in Mikel and Chelsea went on the draw the game 2*2. with Mikel absolutely destroying United's midfield. we need such players at the club and in fact any PL team needs a solid holding player

In the last 19 years there have been many players offering less than Ba. I think you've been rather spoilt by the recent riches. You're lumping him in with the likes of Slaviša Jokanović!

Ba was a January signing, picked up on the cheap when we needed more depth in the forward role. He's not got enough goals, but made a decent enough start before his nose was splattered across his face (which should have won a penalty). Fantastic goal against United in the cup.

Even strikers I'd take Ba over Furlong, (Carlton) Cole, Sutton, Nicholls, Shipperly, Kezman, Di Santo, Pizarro that I can think of and for the money I'd rather have him than Shevchenko and Torres.

Ironically I'd rather he did leave, but we've had a lot of worse strikers. The ba® is just so much higher now it's easy to lose relativity.

No future with Terry and Lampard. they were substitutes under previous managers for a reason.

All i can say is..the writer wrote what he thinks..its his opinion..i begin to wonder how somebody will prefer a ramires,essien and lampard in d middle of the park..if you pick essien and drop mikel then you must be very incorrect..chelsea plays @ there best with mikel on d field of play..chelsea's midfield is always more composed wit mikel..so i care less whether he passes back, down or middle..all i knw is all the managers chelsea have been having all this years can't be foolish to have been playing him..and the question is ..when they play him..did chelsea not win trophies..? It's obvious that the writter of this article is so myopic and not a true chelsea fan.Everton defeated chelsea last weekend but we saw the way chelsea played with Mikel in d midfield and we saw how Ramires was able to express himself freely. I understand what the author is trying to convey in his article. Mikel is a fanastic player but is he suited for Chelsea? He's not Makalele now is he? He can be lazy and we've seen that on a number of times especially against Everton; in actual fact him and Luiz were the reason why Everton scored. He also cannot seem to shoot straight or score goals. But saying all this, I have seen Mikel has improved a lot these past two seasons and under Jose he will continue to do so. There is no way I would trade him as a player.
