Combining The Manchester United And Manchester City Squads - An All-Manchester 11

To give you a break from all the talk of who will win the Premier League, we at Football Friends have combined the Manchester City and Manchester United squads to come up with an all Manchester 11. Comment below on who would make your team.

    4-2-3-1

    Goalkeeper:

David de Gea (GK) - United

Although this was a tough decision to make, Joe Hart's performances of late haven't been up to the soaring standards he has set himself. De Gea is slowly establishing himself as one of the top shot-stoppers in the Premier League and takes our spot between the sticks.

    Defenders:

    Pablo Zabaleta (RB) - City

The right-back berth was between two South Americans - Rafael and Zabaleta - but the City man gets the nod for his impressive form last season. Rafael has youth on his side, but Zabaleta is more of a threat going forward and would complement the rest of our team brilliantly.

    Vincent Kompany (CB) - City

One of the most commanding centre-backs the English topflight has seen in years. The towering Belgian is more than comfortable knocking the ball round the back but is also incredibly quick and strong in the air. Kompany would probably skipper the side, also.

    Phil Jones (CB)  - United

Jones is one of my favourite players in the league. His bullish approach to the game will surely see him secure his place at the heart of the United defence sooner rather than later, especially as Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are on their way out. Jones also adds youth to our backline.

    Patrice Evra (LB) - United

No question about this one. The Frenchman has impressed from the moment he arrived at Old Trafford all those years ago and has been integral to how the Red Devils play their game.

    Midfielders:

    Michael Carrick (DM) - United

Although not blessed with pace, agility or the natural athleticism that your average central midfielder has, Carrick hold the tactical awareness and passing capacity to challenge anyone in the topflight.

    Yaya Toure (DM) - City

To operate alongside Carrick, we need a player with an engine. Who better than Yaya Toure, who has been driving Manchester City to success for the last few years. Many consider him at his best when he is pushed forward, but for the sake of this he will slot in beside the England man.

    Jesus Navas (LM) - City

The whippet has landed at the Etihad over the summer with bags of expectation. His speed and his delivery is something that has left the City fans foaming at the mouth with anticipation of.

    Wayne Rooney (CAM) - United

The attacking unit will be based around Rooney. Although not everyone's cup of tea, the England forward is sensational at what he does and injects a hunger into his colleagues. Playing just off the target-man, the former Everton man will spark off those around him.

    David Silva (RM) - City

Many of us felt let down with the Spain international's performances last season and are hoping that new manager Manuel Pellegrini will rekindle the form we witnessed the season previous. Silva is one of the most creative outlets the Premier League has ever seen, and can ghost across the front three of our side.

    Forward:

Robin van Persie (ST) - United

Who else? After scoring 26 league goals last season he struck a brace in his first game of the new campaign against Swansea. The Dutchman would have his pick of most clubs in Europe and stroll straight into the starting line up.

    Substitutes:

    Hart - City

    Rafael - United

    Richards - City

    Welbeck - United

    Gareth Barry - City

    Hernandez - United

    Negredo - City

Welbeck ahead of Aguero on the sub's bench?????

welbeck > aguero any day of the week kiddo. younger and already scoring goals this season.

Ha ha... Welbeck over Aguero? How many goals did Welbeck score last year?

    'Nited fans getting giddy already

Are you sure. Give me RVP, you can keep the rest. As for Stan Laurel, Christ!!

I'd have Rafael for Zaba, purely based on a defensive aspect, but I think otherwise it's spot on. Perhaps maybe Nastasic on the bench aswell instead of Richards.

As for Wellbeck, it's not all about goals City fans. He contibutes massively to the United side and played in a wider role last year and has proved he can score goals.

Look at the chip against Swansea!!!

As an Arsenal fan, I think Welbeck offers more in terms of flexibility. Can play left, right, CF and has shown huge sign of improvement. I'd replace Negredo with Aguero, mind!
