Premier League Preview - Can Tottenham Break The Top Four?

There is no denying that Tottenham relied heavily on Gareth Bale last season. The Welshman is, in my opinion, the Premier League’s best player and Spurs will have to keep hold of him to deliver a much craved Champions League place.

Manager Andre Villas-Boas did a great job during his first season in charge, combining a deadly attack with a solid defence. His job will, however, be made a lot easier if the club keeps hold of Bale and recruits another forward. Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor only scored 16 goals between them last season and if Villas-Boas has to do without Gareth Bale, although a deal for Roberto Soldado was done, he should be looking for another frontman.

AVB has turned Tottenham into a well-drilled side. Jan Vertonghen and Michael Dawson were superb in central defence and if they can both stay clear of injury, Spurs fans shouldn’t have to worry about their team reverting to type and conceding late goals.

If Gareth Bale does leave Tottenham, though, it could be a tough season for the north London club. Bale leaving should not be ruled out and a slow start to the campaign may follow if the likes of Defoe can't pick his performances up. If indeed he gets a sniff of action, that is.

    Prediction: 6th.

Predicition of 6th is a it harsh in my opinion. Tottenha have made some great signing SO FAR in this transfer market. Another forward & they are right up there & should end up fighting or a 2nd or 3rd place finish. Exciting times for the faithful at the Lane.

Ha Ha Ha...are you avid James,by any chance?

Oh, no, that is right, he predicted that the team who have finished 4th twice* in the last four seasons and the other two onl just missed out my a ridiculously narrow margin, has Sanro and Kaboul retuning, and has bought Soldado, Paulinho, Chadli and Capoue, while showing no signs of stopping buying, to finish 8th because 'Bale might be sold' He also predicted Liverpool to finish 4th  times 10.

    • Yes, just to highlight how ridiculous your headline is, Spurs have finished in the top 4 twice in the last four seasons, and as near as damn it in the other too - so why a headline indicating it would be a totally unexpected, breakthrough moment.
As Ted Eire says, exciting times at WHL, with or without Bale, if the good folk in the media are so dull and pedesrian in their thinking that they can't see that, maybe they should get a job better suited to their 'talents' (such that they are).

I am burning inside and and while others years I was happy if Spurs did well, this year (in the worlds of Kevin Keegan) "I WOULD LOVE IT" if we comfortably achieve 3rd - 4th because I am fed up with all this tosh about us finishing 6th- 8th because of Gareth Bale...

Just in case people haven't noticed, not only have we signed top players we have Kaboul and Sandro returning who are like two new signings again... AND EVEN if Bale leaves, he will replaced with MORE players.
