Where Will Stuart Downing Fit In At West Ham? (video)

It seems as though Sam Allardyce is close to securing a deal for Liverpool winger Stuart Downing, so as the Reds fans celebrate that they have finally found a new home for the former Middlesbrough man, we take a look at where he would fit in at the Hammers and his statistics from last year.

We all know that Fat Sam skipped the lesson on how play silky football, so his teams' focus is very much getting the ball wide and whipping balls into the box.

    Ooh err.

On that basis, you'd have thought that Downing is exactly the type of player the Hammers need. Although the England international has come under a heap load of scrutiny during his career,  he was one of the Reds' most consistent players last season. His 66 chances created will have former team-mate Andy Carroll purring, although when the two were part of the same team at Anfield it was about as common as a Kenny Daglish smile that they combined to hit the back of the net.

He only scored three goals last term, but combined with another former Scouser in the shape of Joe Cole they should provide plenty of opportunities for those giant frontmen at Upton Park.

His 83% pass completion may take a hit, though!

This short clip sums up Downing's time at Liverpool.
