    10 facts about new £5m Swansea signing 

    As Swansea announce their new £5m signing Jonjo Shelvey from Liverpool, we have rounded up 10 facts that 1/2 of the Premier League's Welsh components might find interesting regarding the midfielder.

    1) Shelvey was born in Romford, London, and represented Arsenal, West Ham and Charlton all at youth level.

    2) Shelvey became Charlton's youngest ever player when he made his debut in 2008 aged just 16 years and 59 days.

    3) He also became the Addick's youngest ever goalscorer with his effort against Norwich the following year, 54 days before his 17th birthday.

    4) Shelvey made 47 appearances for Charlton before signing for Liverpool in 2010 for a fee believed to be around £1.7m.

    5) The 21-year-old went on to make 70 first team appearances for the Reds and scored seven goals in all competitions.

    6) Shelvey also spent time on loan at Championship side Blackpool and scored six goals in his 10 games at Bloomfield Road.

    7) Shelvey's goals celebration is aimed at his brothers, and the rest of his family, who are believed to need glasses. Shelvey raises his hands to his face as though he is wearing specs.

    8) Shelvey was part of the Liverpool side to win the 2011/12 League Cup, his only silverware to date.

    9) Shelvey has represented England at U16, U17, U19, U21 and at senior level, making his first team debut late last year in the 5-0 win against San Marino.

    10) Shelvey has suffered with alopecia since a young age which has resulted in total loss of head hair.
