3 reasons why Wayne Rooney to Chelsea may not be a good idea

Word on the street is that chubby, hairless striker Wayne Rooney is wanted by Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, but should the Blues really be making an offer for the Manchester United man? Before I proceed, just how factual these rumours are, I have no idea. But here are three reasons why I think the move wouldn't suit either party.

    1) Too many cooks

We know that Jose Mourinho prefers his teams to operate with one, powerful centre-forward. Didier Drogba springs to mind. With his inherited Chelsea squad the Portuguese manager has both Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku at his disposal, as well as a different option in the shape of Fernando Torres.

Why, then, would the club throw money at Manchester United for a player who will add a fourth individual fighting for the sole spot. Granted, Rooney is an exceptional talent, and Ba and Torres both underperformed in the Premier League last season. Lukaku has also only had one full campaign in the topflight, but unless the Special One is planning on flogging one of them then the money could be spent more efficiently elsewhere.

    2) Shrek's spotlight

Whenever Rooney takes to the field you feel that he is aching for attention. Whether it is through a spectacular performances or one of his explosive outbursts, Rooney loves the cameras despite his shy exterior.

To get the best out of Rooney you need to build the team, or the attack at least, around the former Everton man. This won't happen at Stamford Bridge as the quality already in their ranks is incredible. A switch to a side which he is almost guaranteed to spearhead is what the doctor is ordering here.

    3) The Theatre of Dreams

Rooney has the makings of a Manchester United legend, although he is seemingly trying his best for that not to happen. He has the ability, the desire and the goal record to carve his name into Old Trafford folklore, and also the fact that he is England's main man up top.

Rooney is now on a hat-trick of transfer of requests, which is enough to rub any fan up the wrong way, but if he focuses his attention to out-perform Robin van Persie next season then it will certainly soften the blow.
