10 things you need to know about Chelsea target Stephan El Shaarawy

With reports linking Jose Mourinho and Chelsea to AC Milan star Stephan El Shaarawy in a deal which could see Fernando Torres heading the other way, we have gathered 10 facts that Blues fans should know about the 20-year-old.

1) Shaarawy was born in Savona, Italy to an Egyptian father and Italian mother.

2) After a year playing his game in the ranks of Legino, Shaarawy signed for Serie A outfit Genoa aged 14.

3) He mustered just three appearances for the club, as well as 30 for Serie B outfit Padova on loan, before he arrived in the capital with AC Milan.

4) He signed for Milan in 2011and has so far made 74 appearances and scored 23 goals for the San Siro outfit.

5) El Shaarawy has represented his nation Italy at U16, U17, U18, U19 and U21 level scoring 11 goals in 36 games before he made the step up to the senior side.

6) He earned his first cap for the senior Italy side in August 2012 in the friendly against England and has gone on to play 10 games and score one goal.

7) El Shaarawy is sponsored by Nike and and appeared in an advert with the likes of Mario Gotze, Eden Hazard, Raheem Sterling, Christian Eriksen and Theo Walcott last year.

8) The forward scored 16 goals in the Italian topflight last term.
