Tottenham left disappointed as Soldado decides to stay at the Mestalla (Video)

It had been rumoured all week that Tottenham Hotspur were looking to bring Spaniard Roberto Soldado to White Hart Lane after Valencia missed out on Champions League qualification on the final day of the La Liga season. However, as reported by TalkSPORT, Soldado has stated that he does not want his three year stay at the Mestalla to end.

Soldado would have been a great signing for Tottenham as they currently lack any sort of depth in the striking department. The North-Londoners have been linked to Brazilian Leandro Damiao for over a year now but nothing has developed on that front as of yet. The Spanish international seemed the perfect option until his words today.

He has scored 59 goals in 101 appearances since joining Valencia from Getafe in 2010 including 24 goals in 35 league appearances this term. He is a striker who works hard for the team and is extremely creative when compared to other forwards. Soldado has created an impressive 32 chances for his teammates this season with four assists.

It is rumoured that Daniel Levy wanted to maintain his bull-like nature in the transfer market by bringing in high-profile signings in the early part of the transfer window in a bid to keep Gareth Bale at the club as they look to qualify for the Champions League next season. Unfortunately for Spurs, they will now have to look elsewhere for a new striker.

No Champons league at Tottenham, so why move? Valencia have more pedigree anyway. More of Adebayor I'm afraid.
