Midfielder could make Manchester United return this summer

David Moyes' biggest task this summer will be rebuilding a midfield capable of driving Manchester United to Premier League glory, and a big boost to the former Everton manager is that Darren Fletcher may make a return to first team action after a stint on the sidelines with a chronic bowel condition.

The Mirror report that the Scotland international could make a return as early as pre season despite having a second operation just two months ago. The 28-year-old was thought  to have played his last game for both club and country after he only made 10 appearances last term, but it appears that he is making strong progress.

It is easy to joke about football players making the most of injuries as they sit in their luxurious mansions and drive their million pound sports cars, but Darren Fletcher has never been portrayed as a flashy or arrogant character and most will wish him well on his fight back to action.

Fletcher is a product of the United youth system and has now played over 300 games under Sir Alex Ferguson, but he has had the opportunities to leave the club. Now-manager David Moyes tried to sign the Scot while in charge of Everton, so with him coming back and with a two year contract under his belt there will be one very happy ginger at Old Trafford.
