Big-money striker wants Chelsea move, Premier League goalkeeper switches to La Liga and Tottenham face competition for Spain international - round up

Reports from the Express suggest that Wayne Rooney is ready to snub the advances of Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain to join Jose Mourinho at Chelsea. The striker is on the cusp of a move away from Old Trafford after handing in his second transfer request in his Red Devils stint, and it is now the Blues who the former Everton forward wants to make the switch to.

Sticking with Chelsea, they have announced that young Belgian keeper is to spend another year at La Liga side Atletico Madrid. The 21-year-old has spent the last two seasons at the Vicente Calderon and next season will complete the hat-trick as Petr Cech bosses the sticks at Stamford Bridge.

The youngster was keen to continue his development in the Spanish capital in order to implement himself as Chelsea's number 1, so the move seems a nice fit for all parties.

Tottenham are apparently in a battle with Italian side Fiorentina for the services of Barcelona's finest chin strip in the style of David Villa, according to the Mirror. The £8.5m move for the Spaniard is widely expected to go through for the north London side but they now face fierce competition from a club the striker's agent Victor Anote has described as a fascinating project.

He said: "David Villa [to] Fiorentina? A fascinating project. Talk about a formal interest from Fiorentina is excessive but we know the type of project they have in mind."
