Released Chelsea man to stay in the Premier League - video

Yossi Benayoun is possibly the least-hated player in the Premier League, possibly second in history behind Sir David Beckham who has never been bad-mouthed post 1998. So when Chelsea released the Israel international the county's heart sank and wondered whether or not we had seen the last of the tricky midfielder. However, we can now relax as the Daily Mail report that he is in talks to join Midlands outfit West Brom ahead of Steve Clarke's second season in charge at the Hawthorns.

The 33-year-old has struggled to hold down any sort of first team place since he left Liverpool back in 2010 and has spent time at Chelsea, Arsenal and his former club West Ham. His approach to the game has won him plenty of fans throughout the country, combined with his performances of course, and there is a lot to offer if given a chance in a team who need him.

He mustered only four starts last season and didn't manage much impact in any of them, but you get the feeling he could thrive in a side such as the Baggies.

Clarke is currently trying to trim his squad and transform it into quality and not quantity and the freebie could prove to be a very shrewd move indeed.
