Newcastle plot move for £10m English starlet

Newcastle United are on the hunt for Derby County starlet Will Hughes after the 18-year-old earnt an England under-21 call up.

The Magpies are said to be prepared to pay £10million for the youngster.

The 18-year-old midfielder's performances for the Championship club has attracted interest from a host of top clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City.

But it's the Geordies who are ready to splash the cash and also offer to immediately loan Hughes back to the Rams for a season, which is likely to tempt boss Nigel Clough to strike a deal.

Hughes’ outstanding displays last term helped him win a call-up to the England Under-21 squad.

It is set to be an important summer of spending for Newcastle following their disappointing campaign last season but Hughes is set be a signing for the future.

The club have come under a lot of criticism as to the amount of French players they have signed and so to bring in a young English player would be a step in the right direction.

Although this would be a great addition for the future of the club, Newcastle still need to bring in fresh faces to ensure they don't have a repeat of what happened last season in which they were battling relegation.

He recently signed a new contract extension until the summer of 2016.
