Arsenal target winger, Mario Gomez closing in on transfer, Liverpool looking at £20m midfielder - today's news

In what has turned out to be a slow news day and the same old, same old stories which have seemingly yet to formulate into any reality have cropped up yet again in the gossip columns. Bale to Madrid, Bale to PSG, and Bale to Monaco. We’ve been hearing about Bale’s future for a while now and the non-existent bids that are reportedly knocking about are no nearer to the truth, yet.

The lack of activity, not unusual for this time of year see’s the same stories recycled and regurgitated and Gareth Bale’s future has been the number one culprit of that. David Luiz’s name has been thrown about for a while too, his move away from Stamford Bridge picking up press over Jose Mourinho’s belief the Brazilian doesn’t fit into his plans, PSG and Barcelona are said to be sniffing around the centre-back. Arsenal’s spending could reach new heights this season, they might push the boat out and actually sign a player. The shrewd policies of Wenger still are apparent, but he is trying to sign Marseille’s Ghanaian winger come striker Andre Ayew, with Wenger still trying to fill that Thierry Henry shaped hole since 2007. Gervinho, the man who was meant to fill that hole, will apparently be a part of that deal, lucky Marseille. Arsenal are also trying to sign Maxime Gonalons, but Lyon are digging their heels in. Sacrebleu!

One move nearing something towards the truth is Mario Gomez's move, with his agent meeting officials from Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City. Bayern still seem intent on signing half of Dortmund’s team and Gomez’s move will open a space for Lewandowski  to jump into, that is if Dortmund decide to part with the Pole.

To finish with the downright outlandish, Wigan have, in a hope to fend off interest, slapped a £20 million price tag on James McCarthy. Any of the teams interested in the Irishman foolish enough to pay that would be more than silly, yet Liverpool still however remain interested in him.
