Liverpool prepare move for Premier League goalkeeper, but how does he compared to Reina? - Statistics

The Daily Mail are suggesting that Liverpool are set to make a bid for Sunderland's Simon Mignolet in order to replace Pepe Reina who may be departing to Barcelona, but looking at the stats how do the two compare?

First up we take a look at the Spaniard already installed between the Anfield sticks. Reina racked up 31 games last season in the Premier League and kept 14 clean sheets. On average he made 1.35 saves per game, conceded  just 1.10 goals per game, completed 89% of his claims and his dristribution - traditionally his strongest trait, stands at 75%.

So, now the Belgian shot-stopper who is attracting interest from the Premier League big boys. The 25-year-old played every minute of the Black Cats' campaign last season and kept 11 clean sheets. He made an impressive 3.26 saves per game, conceded 1.42 goals per game and successfully claimed 96% of those he attempted. His distribution is only 46% successful but perhaps deployed in a Brendan Rodgers team that would increase.

It is yet to be seen whether or not Reina will actually be leaving Merseyside as the 'will he, won't he' saga continues but if he does go there are plenty more fish in the sea for Rodgers and co. Or in this case, plenty more number 1s in the nets.

You forgot to mention that Simon has a whole lot more hair than baldy.
