Arsenal name Premier League goalkeeper as target

Lets face it Arsenal being linked to goalkeepers is part and parcel of the transfer window, so it should not shock many to hear The Metro reporting that Simon Mignolet is on their radar.

The highly rated Belgium stopper was one of the key reasons behind Sunderland squeaking Premier League survival, with his performances not going unnoticed by a host of Premier League clubs. To add fuel to the fire and what will put those interested parties on red alert are reports highlighting the keeper is looking for a move away.

Mignolet is believed to want to take his career to a trophy winning level, which given Arsenal's baron run might generate more than a few snide remarks. That said he is certainly more likely to meet his achievements at the Emirates rather than with Sunderland, further to that he might just be ready to escape the Paolo Di Canio mad house before things get to crazy.

The Gunners have tried an entire raft of options between the sticks in recent years and nobody has really looked like securing the number one jersey; with the likes of Lukas Fabianski, Wojciech Szczesny, Vitor Mannone all highlighting as much ability to drop clangers as produce world class goal keeping during their Arsenal careers.

Mignolet might just be the man who finally ends Arsenal fans endless sleepless nights as a result of goal keeping problems. It should though be pointed out that these reports don't indicate the keeper is unhappy at Sunderland, meaning the Gunners won't get any knock down deal as a result of the player looking to force through a move.

They are not serious about winning a title. Yet again go for the cost effective replacement because they won't pay the extra for Begovic .... you get what you pay for

What Sunny Gunner said. As for calling Mignolet 'the cost effective' option compared to Begovic - there is nothing to indicate what sort of offer would persuade Sunderland to do a deal. Other lazy journalists last week suggested that Liverpool hsd offered 6 or 7 million but there's no substance to that suggestion either.
And how do these 2 lines from the article add up: "reports highlighting the keeper is looking for a move away" and "reports don't indicate the keeper is unhappy at Sunderland". Well which one is it? These 'reports' are presumably other made-up hack pieces as well. Most of what is wrong with football journalism is encapsulated here.
As for Arsenal's 'baron' run, well that made me laugh at least.

Wht rubbish to and fro are u are giving us? Today "julio ceser" deal almost done, tomorrow "begovic" next is "mignolet"
