Why Arsenal need to snap up £5m France international

Much has been said about Arsenal's campaign this year. From the Wenger out brigade flashing their lights to battling with Spurs and Chelsea for third place in the Premier League, from whether Walcott deserves a new contract as a striker or a winger to whether or not their backline trio is the best in Europe, Gunners have had plenty to discuss.

Now, with the summer transfer looming large, the transfer whispers are starting to appear and one that can't seem to leave the club alone is the potential move for Loic Remy.

The Frenchman arrived in London in January to ply his trade for Queens Park Rangers and has been a huge success, despite the club's relegation leaving Harry Redknapp in a twitching frenzy, and with a £5m clause in his contract he is expecting to jump ship to another Premier League club.

With five goals in his 12 Premier League goals since turning up at the start of the year, Remy has conjured up an abundance of interest from the so called elite of Europe.

The major factor that Wenger will be tempted by is the forward's versatility. Remy can play in the lone striker role that the Gunners currently operate with, he can play with a partner, roam just behind or play on either wing to maximum effect.

With Olivier Giroud having a mixed bag this season and hinting at a possible move to French moneybags PSG, Remy could be the perfect replacement. Luka Podolski's future has also been questioned, and if he is to leave north London then their forward line will look considerably weaker.

I am sure Theo Walcott is over the moon with Arsenal being linked with another striker.
