Manchester United set eyes on Juventus star

It is widely believed that Manchester United need investment in their midfield, a view that has been pretty persistent for a vast number of years so much so that it has almost become a broken record. We have heard so for long now that Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes cannot go on forever and whilst both continue to offer their best peter pan impressions there will surely come a point in the not to distant future where replacements are needed.

One man whose name has been muted in recent times is Claudio Marchisio, undoubtedly he is a player who would improve United and offer extra energy and creativity to what has at times been a midfield which has struggled against the very best. Before United fans get their hopes up though, Sky Sports News are indicating that Marchisio who has been both a key play for Juventus and Italy in recent years is not interested in a move away from the club where he started at youth level.

Juve find themselves in a similar position as United in that they are without doubt the strongest side in their country yet they lack the quality player or two to mix it with Europe's best, something which was only to evident in their defeat in the Champions League quarter final against Bayern.

It had been muted that Marchisio might act as a fundrasier in order to finance a move for a stellar player to take them to the next level, however replacing him would no doubt only create further problems. United can surly not hold off their midfielder search for much longer particularly if they want to move to Europe's next level however Marchisio looks unlikely to make himself available as the man to solve their problems, with the Italian seemingly very much a home boy.
