Everything Liverpool, Manchester United and Southampton need to know about midfield target (video)

It’s been rumoured today on the BBC Sport website that both Liverpool and Southampton are looking at the possibility of bringing 21-year

-old midfield powerhouse Victor Wanyama to the Premiership from Celtic. There were also rumours in the January transfer window that Sir Alex Ferguson was looking at the Kenyan and you can be sure if he was available Manchester United wouldn’t be too far away from his signature.

        He signed for Celtic from Belgian pro league side Beerschot AC for just £900,000 in the summer of 2011. Since then he has grown into a powerful box to box midfielder with great strength and a commanding presence in the middle of the park, his tackling ability is also highly rated and he has covered very competently in the Celtic defence on occasion making him a very useful player. He quickly became a fan favourite at Celtic Park with consistently good performances.

        Wanyama quickly appeared on the radar or many teams around Europe with his particularly impressive performances for Celtic in the Champions League, he showed that he is able to play at the highest level and even got himself a goal in Celtic’s now famous 2-1 win over Barcelona.

        At just the age of 21 the Kenyan has already proved he is a player with great ability and at such a young age he is only going to continue to get better. He would be a fantastic signing for most teams in the Premiership as he would add power and steel to any midfield.

It’s easy to see why Liverpool or Southampton would be interested, the only problem could be his price tag. With Wanyama being such a key part of their midfield and at such a young age with great potential Celtic will not be willing to let him go cheaply and although he is valued at just over £5 million Celtic may want more than double that for his services.

If a club in the Premiership like Liverpool or Southampton can find the money for the big Kenyan he will surely be a welcome addition to the Premier League.

The valuation of Victor Wanyama at £5m is a joke! There are a number of clubs who want him and the bidding will start around £10m. I have seen him play at Celtic park a few times,he has great vision and passes the ball very well. He is an exeptional player for Celtic,hail hail

Valued at £5 million, by whom? The Celtic manager has already said he values Wanyama at £25million. Now, Man city paid 16million for Jack rod well and the boy is nowhere near the player that wanyama is, so by that reckoning and the reckoning that Pirlo, Xavier and Iniesta have all raved about Wanyama I think the £10million is still a fair bit short. I think we start the bidding at £15million, that should weed out the rubbish like Southampton and Newcastle, and probably Liverpool as they :-) can't afford that, that will leaves the proper big teams and there will be many chasing the signature. One other thing the author neglected to say is that Wanyama has already said he is going nowhere, he wants to stay and play for Celtic.
