Arsenal ready to offer Barcelona midfielder a way out

Arsenal are planning a sensational swoop to recapture former midfielder Cesc Fabregas as Barcelona plan a summer of transition, report the Daily Star.

Fabregas has had an impressive season in La Liga this time round, scoring 10 goals in his 28 league appearances, but his performances in Barca's European games have been nothing short of dismal. And as the Camp Nou side look to rebuild a squad capable of dominating world football they are said to be willing to let some of their players go.

Amongst those expected to leave, alongside Fabregas, are Alex Song, David Villa and young full-back Martin Montoya, all of whom are linked with Premier Legaue moves.

Fabregas grew up in Barcelona's notorious La Masia before making a switch to north London in 2003 to try and break into the first team set up. After eight years and over 300 games for the Gunners he returned to the Blaugrana after months of speculation.

Although fans weren't happy about losing one of their star players, they accepted his heart was in Barcelona and he left as a hero to many supporter. Arsenal are said to have first refusal should the midfield man be leaving Barcelona, and Arsene Wenger is desperate to get him back into a red shirt. Another advantage for the Gunners is that Barcelona still owe around £5m from the £35m deal that took him to Spain in the first place.

Will senior Fabregras be reunited with monsieur Wenger?

notorious? Merseyside is notorius, la masia is famous.

Obviously if there was a chance to get cesc back then great, but im not to fussed... he left and i also think cesc will prob stay there anyway

As long as he doesn't cost more than a pint of fosters and a packet of pork scratchings we stand an excellent chance. Really, is there anyone out there who actually believes this drivel ?

Do Arsenal fans really believe that Cesc will want to return, or that Wenger is willing to fork out £35 million to get him? Not a chance in hell! First of all, Fabregas won more medals that he spent seasons in Catalunia, meaning that should he leave, he would want to keep winning. There is absolutely no chance for him to win anything else but player of the month trophy with Arsenal.

Second of all, Wenger paid £12 million pounds + clauses for Arshavin, totalling the tranfer up to £15,7 million pounds. And at that time, Arshavin was on top of his game and almost every club in the world wanted him at that time. There is no way Wenger would even consider paying as much as Barcelona paid for Fabregas to get him back. For those fans who do not want to disappoint themselves, do not expect to see Fabregas in an Arsenal shirt, playing in a registered match. In fact, he probably end up in Chelsea or City. Or even worse, following van Persie to the the red side of Manchester.

    @ Alex

Do you think he would cost us £35m? In that case I would suggest that Barcelona have nowhere near finished paying us for him so are more likely to owe us around half of that still. There is also a 50% sell on clause so if they do want to sell him elsewhere they would need to sell him for £70m to recoup what they outlayed. Therefore it is quite likely he could come back to us.
