Manchester United and Chelsea target set for massive pay rise (video)

It is amazing what a bit of a whinge can do for some people. For most of us, if we went to the media and moaned about our day job and suggested that a return to our old employers is more attractive then we would be sacked instantly. Not Cristiano Ronaldo. Oh no. Okay he is an extraordinary talent and is one of the best on the planet at what he does, but offering him a substantial pay rise to loft him to the top earner in football off the back of it is surely only delaying the inevitable.

BBC are reporting that this is what is happening at Real Madrid in an attempt to repel any interest in the forward that either Manchester United or Chelsea have.

"We want to build the Madrid of the future around him," Madrid president Florentino Perez told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.

"And I would like Cristiano to be the best-paid player in the world."

His remarkable 55 goals in 55 games this season for Los Blancos has left people foaming at the mouth but his constant hints that he is unhappy in the Spanish capital have sparked the rumours regarding his future.

He has previously stated that money is not the issue, so will he go back on his word and sign the mega money contract or will we see him alongside the likes of Nick Powell next season?
