Further Portuguese arrivals set for Stamford Bridge?

Jose Mourinho might not be the only Portuguese arriving at Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid this summer if reports in the Metro are to be believed. Ok so before anyone gets over excited it is probably worth pointing out now that the player in question is unfortunately not Crristiano Ronaldo but Fabio Coentrao.

It would seem that relations have broken down between the fullback and Real, as a result he is now available for transfer despite having cost the club in excess of 30 million Euro's just two years ago. Chelsea were one of the clubs who Real beat off for his signature so it seem that in itself is enough for the rumours about them chasing him again, whilst the old gossip column trick of putting two and two together and making five is also at work with this story.

It would appear that because Mourinho is joining Chelsea that would also be the obvious destination for the defender, which to be fair might appear pretty sound logic. However Coentrao this term only started 16 league games which doesn't exactly highlight a glowing love for the player from Mourinho, whilst the player himself is hardly likely to be overjoyed at linking up with a manager who was so reluctant to give him regular first team births.

Further to that Ashley Cole does not look like going away just yet meaning that guaranteed starts can't exactly be offered, so it is hard to see this story coming to fruition anytime soon. Who knows given the departure of Paolo Ferreria and Jose Bosingwa maybe people are missing that Portuguese influence in the Chelsea backline.
