First Robin van Persie, now Manchester United are ready to swoop for another Arsenal man

Arsenal fans will have had enough of that pesky northern club Manchester United having one over than them. They used to enjoy battles for the Premier League title in which the likes of Roy Keane and Patrick Viera making the rivalry spicy, however, since those days United have continued winning titles and keeping up the standards while the Gunners slip down the table and start to look like a beaten outfit.

Last summer was the point in which Arsene Wenger's head was wanted around north London, along with the rest of the board, as a result of the sale of talisman Robin van Persie. The Dutchman hit the ground running at Old Trafford and ended up the most recent season as the Premier League's top scorer and marched his new side to another league victory.

Now it looks as though the Red Devils will be going back to the Emirates in order to snatch another Gooner, this time their captain Thomas Vermaelen. The Belgian has fallen behind Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny in the pecking order and is said to be available for just £5m.

If someone suggester that Koscielny would force the skipper out of the club about a year ago you would have laughed in their face. Or is it just Wenger clinging onto his French philosophy?

It all looks pretty much likely (a quality CB moving to a club notoriously lacking in quality defenders), and then, out of the blue, there's the asking price.
For those who failed to check this themselves, Vermaelen is bound to Arsenal until 2016. He's worth around 20 million pounds. All ManU can hope to get for 5 million is Chamakh's middle finger. And a discount on his hookah.

Well well...the Mr Average that is Moyes is showing his color: going for an Arsenal reject??? And for Jagielka the below-average from Everton??? After all, SAF and Co. described Moyes as " a man of integrity and work ethic" but of course not a "winner" because he's not. For all his stellar contributions to the Club, SAF has done some strange things lately ( age?? )....playing Welbeck or Cleverley in lieu of Rooney for example for the Madrid game which of course Utd meekly lost. But not helping Utd get Guardiola by announcing his own departure earlier and then not going for Klopp or Mourinho are the most inexplicable of his latest actions. By getting Moyes he may have ensured his own control in near future but Utd may be the real loser. Moyes can't attract and manage top players. You need top players not Welbecks, Cleverleys, Evras to be a top team these days.

John - you chat utter tripe. Have you ever thought the reason Moyes doesnt attract top players is because Everton isnt a club which attract top players, yes they may attract some good players, but not the best. Yes, if you are wondering it may be about money but i think foremost it is the heritage of Man United which attracts players as teams like Man City and Chelsea can outbid United any day.

Also, Fergie didnt pick Rooney because he had not been performing and his attitude had been lacking.

Fergie only decided to leave in December, why would he announce his decision earlier simply so United could get Guardiola??? What if United didnt want him in the first place? Add that to the fact that Guardiola inherited the best squad in world football when he took over at Barca which means he has never had experience of building a squad like Moyes which is what United need... someone like Fergie who can rebuild and rebuild as Fergie has done again and again. I'd say your reasoning for his decisions being inexplicable are idiotic and you're probably one of the small minded people who say because Fergie has left that United will suddenly nose dive.

Ps. who said Welbeck (England International) Cleverly (England International) and Evra (France International) arent top players?
