Manchester United name £15m midfielder as a summer target

Manchester United fans will be getting sick of hearing about how David Moyes is going to go about his business, how the ginger Scot is going to solve their midfield frailty and how Wayne Rooney is making empty threats again, and understandably so. Take a break. Go on holiday for a few months. Turn of your computers and stop buying the papers. Enjoy your success until August.

Right, now the United fans have gone here is another man linked with the middle of their squad. Barcelona are said to be gearing up for a summer of change this time round in order to regain the title of European champions, and if that means trimming the fringes from their squad then so be it, apparently.

The Sun reported that one man heading to sunny Manchester is Thiago Alcantara. The 22-year-old is apparently available at about £15 despite his enormous £77m release clause in his contract, in which he is still tied to for two years.

Thiago is exactly the sort of player United need to shore up their midfield. He is comfortable anywhere in the middle of the park and has been used as both a creative attacker midfielder and a sturdy deep-lying anchor, although most see him as a natural in the latter.

So, if there are any United fans left reading this, tell us how you feel about this one.

£15 is a bargain,i think we should defo go for that! lol

Just the sort of talent we need at United. Finally with him, the midfield can start playing at a faster pace and much more forward passes. I do hope that he will sooner rather than later replaces Carrick. Carrick only ever makes diagonal passes, mostly very simple ones at very short distances. Never cross field passes, no through balls, no pressing game. Excellent positioning but cannot stamp his presence in the big games. He does the simple things very well and that's it. Just a robot helping us ticking over at midfield. Ever wonder why he doesn't get selected for England? Uninspiring. Because he's the best at doing the boring stuff Keano can do the simple stuff very well too but on the flip side, he's an absolute monster. He makes sure we never gets bullied.

Carrick is the classic English midfielder that observes strick positional discipline whereas Alcantara epitomizes the modern midfielder, fluid and dynamic. Schooled in the tiki taka of La Masia. His presence in the middle of the park, how he will dictate play, fluid movement and support play will ultimately create our own brand of tiki taka.

After more than 2 decades of Premiership dominance, every one, the world, knows who's the top dog in England. But to win in Europe, we need Spanish style, with German muscle and discipline while pushing the English speed and tenacity up a few notches.

My vision, Alcantara to partner Fellaini in the middle while Kagawa sits in an advanced position. RVP at the point of the sword while Ronaldo and Bale terrorizes the flanks.

Well, getting Bale and Ronaldo is just wishful thinking. But I can dream, can I?
