Tottenham ready to shatter transfer record to land Brazil international

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas has asked for the support of the chairman Daniel Levy as he plans of smashing the club's transfer record to secure the services of Brazil international Hulk.

The Zenit forward has endured a tough time since making his big money move to Russia in the summer, scoring a timid seven goals in 34 games and suffering racial abuse from the supporters.

Villas-Boas knows all about the bullish frontman as the pair worked together at Porto when the Portuguese manager guided the club to a historic treble. Hulk was in incredible form that campaign and finished with a monumental 36 goals in 53 games.

The rumours have also sparked conversation regarding the future of Tottenham superstar Gareth Bale. Hulk can play either as a lone centre-forward or in the wider berths and has been suggested as the perfect replacement should the Welshman be tempted away from north London.

Spurs' current transfer record is the £16.5m they coughed up for David Bentley back in 2008 *snigger* but they are looking at least doubling that to land Hulk in the summer.

Hulk was reportedly desperate to leave Zenit in the January transfer market after realising what he had let himself in for, but a FIFA ruling stating that you cannot represent more than two clubs in a single season put that one to bed.

FIFA are lucky it didn't make him angry. They wouldn't like him when he's angry.
