Can Chelsea surprise United this weekend?

It could be a demoralising week for Manchester United if they don't keep their wits about them. Having crashed out of the Champions League on Tuesday night, Sir Alex Ferguson's side host Chelsea in the FA Cup at the weekend in an encounter that could turn United's season from a great to a good one.

The talk of treble silenced when Nani was handed his marching orders in the defeat to Real Madrid earlier this week and after Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo handed Los Blancos the initiative on Tuesday, the writing was on the wall for United and their Champions League campaign.

It's vital, in that case, that they pick themselves up against Chelsea at the weekend. David Luiz has today come out insisting that a positive result can be attained at Old Trafford and with the Premier League pace setters likely to be feeling down on their luck following the encounter with Real, an upset is possible.

However, Ferguson will have made sure that his players are focused on the task ahead of them rather than dwell on the defeat to the La Liga side. Yet, there is an undermining feeling that Chelsea could spring a surprise at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The form of the Blues has left a lot to be desired since Rafael Benitez took over, but if there was as good a time to face United, it's on the back of a confidence sapping loss in an encounter they were favourites to win.
