Poyet would be foolish to leave Brighton

Managers are starting off their careers younger and younger than many had in the past. Look at the likes of Andre Villas-Boas, Roberto Di Matteo, Brendan Rodgers and Roberto Martinez, all of whom are relatively spritely in comparison to the likes of Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson.

Gus Poyet, it can be said, is another who would adequately fit the persona of young manager, with the Brighton and Hove Albion boss continuing to impress as his Seagulls side look to secure promotion to the top flight.

Unsurprisingly, interest is high in the Uruguayan, who is looking to really establish himself as one of the games better managers. Yet, while Reading have shown an interest, it would be daft for Poyet to depart the Amex Arena for the Madejski Stadium, at least at this point of time however.

Following the sacking of Brian McDermott, it's appearing increasingly likely that the Royals will succumb to relegation this season, especially with the run of fixtures between now and the May. With the club currently six points from safety following the defeat to Manchester United last weekend, a drop back to the Championship looks to be a dead cert.

Which is why it would be daft for Poyet to consider the role with Reading. While the Royals have attained top flight status for not the first time in their managerial history, there is more chance, at present, of Brighton playing Premier League football than Reading next season.

Granted the opportunity to manage in England's top flight at the current point of time is a massive lure, but Poyet must refrain for taking over the reins from McDermott, unless the Brighton manager, of course, is playing his own version of managerial politics in order to secure himself a larger contract.
