Key World Cup Qualifiers in Europe this weekend (video)

With most European teams having already played 4 group games, this weekend's fixtures represent a critical stage in the World Cup Qualification process. We now look at which of Friday's match-ups are likely to be crucial in determining which countries will be on the plane to Brazil next summer.

Israel and Portugal are both locked in 2nd place on 7 points in Group F with Israel due to host the Portuguese on Friday. Cristiano Ronaldo and co will be hoping for at least a point in Israel as the two teams may have to settle for the one play-off spot behind runaway group leaders Russia.

Both Norway and Albania find themselves in a similar position in Group E - Norway trail leaders Switzerland by 3 points with Albania a further point behind. The Norwegians will be hoping to relegate the Albanians further down the league table by securing all 3 points in Oslo.

Denmark qualified for Euro 2012 but have failed to secure a win in their opening 3 World Cup qualifying fixtures. The Danes have to travel to the Czech Republic to face a Czech side who remain unbeaten and look set to challenge Bulgaria in 2nd position in Group B.

Hungary and Romania have an identical record in Group D ahead of this weekend's clash in Budapest. Both countries have secured 9 points from their opening 4 games, 3 points behind leaders Holland but 6 points ahead of the chasing pack. This game looks set to pivotal in determining which country will finish 2nd in the group and reach the play-offs.

Ireland face a tough trip away to an in-form Sweden side on Friday and in all likelihood need at least a point against the Swedes to prevent them and Germany from extending their lead at the top of the table. Ireland currently trail Sweden by 1 point in 3rd position and will have to be at their defensive best to prevent the in-form Zlatan Ibrahimovic from adding to this season's already impressive goal-tally.
