Wilfried Bony: The man to ease West Ham's striking concerns (Video)

Whenever a team makes the leap from Championship to Premier League, the need to strengthen the squad is certainly high. The differentiation in quality of football is evident for all to see from the first game in August to the final one in May. Therefore, it's no shock to see West Ham United performing admirably upon their return to top flight football.

The Hammers secured their promotion to England's top tier once again following their play off victory over Blackpool back in May and currently find themselves nine points clear of relegation zone following an impressive summer and January transfer window from manager Sam Allardyce.

With the east London outfit looking to secure their place in the Premier League for the new season, strengthening again in the summer may well be of vital importance in order to avoid the dreaded 'second season syndrome'.

As a result, West Ham have now been linked with a move for Vitesse Arnham striker Wilfried Bony. The powerful Ivorian performed admirably during the Africa Cup of Nations in recent weeks and interest in the 24-year-old is supposedly high in England.

Boasting an impressive goalscoring record in the Eredivisie, Big Sam could do with adding the young hitman to his squad, especially with Andy Carroll set to return to Liverpool at the end of the season and Marouane Chamakh and Carlton Cole under performing at Upton Park.
