Manuel Iturra: The man to propel Liverpool to the top four (Video)

Monday night's 2-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion was as big a wake up call as any to Liverpool; the fact of the matter is they're not going to achieve a top four finish, bar a minor miracle. The Reds are now 12 points behind fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur, all but ending their hopes of securing a return to the Champions League this season.

However, that was to be expected this year with the club going through what can only described as a transitional season. With Brendan Rodgers at the helm, Liverpool may not've lived up to the expectations their fans expect, but there have been glimpses as to what they can achieve in the foreseeable future.

Nonetheless, investment is a necessity if they are to push on with the rebuilding process. While Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho arrived in January, the summer is the time to spend big and bolster the squad. With it, the Reds have been linked with a move for Malaga midfielder Manuel Iturra.

The 28-year-old is reportedly subject to interest from the Merseysiders amidst reports they're to make a £3m move for the Chile international. Having been signed for free last summer, any money the La Liga side could recoup would represent a good deal for both parties.

Filling the deep lying creator role, having signed as a replacement for Enzo Maresca, Iturra is a player that would provide the spark from deep to feed the likes of Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and Sturridge, and having made only 13 league appearances for Malaga this year; a move is a distinct possibility.
