Does Tom Huddlestone's Form Merit An England Call Up? Opinion

Sky may have chosen Manchester United's narrow and somewhat uneventful 1-0 win over Norwich as their game of the day, but the rest of the nation was glad to see that Match of the Day opted to open with Hull's 6-0 victory over Fulham. The Tigers ripped through the capital club and there was one man who was at the heart of everything - Tom Huddlestone.

The midfielder finally hit the back of the net and can finally cut his hair, but it was much more than that.

Not only did he put in 10 crosses throughout the game, Huddlestone completed 46 passes and was behind five interceptions. The way he sprayed the ball around the pitch had the pundits purring, and Danny Murphy, who was giving his two pence worth during Match of the Day, even went as far to say that he was a better player than any of the current Tottenham central midfielders.

Big words from a big name, but Steve Bruce was also full of praise for his loppy-haired midfielder. Bruce suggested that Huddlestone should be a part of the England squad in Brazil next year.

For me, he's not at that level. If I was Roy Hodgson then there would be a host of players that I would look at before Huddlestone - including Ross Barkley, Ravel Morrison, Michael Carrick, Steven Gerrard, Fabian Delph and even Adam Lallana.

A brilliant player, yes, who is in incredible form.

He had five shots during the tie with Fulham and won both of his headers. The 28-year-old put in a marvellous performance, but an England spot may be too much to ask.
