5 Things We Learned From Manchester United's Win Over Stoke

Manchester United beat Stoke 2-0 at the Britannia last night to win themselves a tie with Sunderland in the semi-finals of the League Cup. Here are five things we learned from the tie.

    1) Young can play

Ashley Young has been slated over the last year or so for his flimsy performances on the Old Trafford wing, but he was the leading light last night as United progressed into the next round of the cup.

Not only did he score a wonderful goal, but he ran the show for the Red Devils on the left flank.

    2) Evra is capable with his right foot

The Frenchman had a storming game and was able to top it all off with a lovely goal off his weaker foot.

    3) Fletcher has a future at United

The Scot made his second substitute appearance of the season as he continues his return from a stomach problem that has kept him out for almost a year, much to the delight of the United fans. It looks as though Fletcher could be a real asset to United this season.

    4) Erik Peters is a real asset to Stoke

Few people had heard of the left-back before he signed for Stoke in the summer but the Dutch defender has thrived in his new surroundings and put in another shift yesterday evening.

    5) United away fans are impressive

Throughout the game the fans in the Manchester United end were fantastic. Not only were they loud in what they were singing, but they were varied with it too.
