Bale's Beauty Not Enough For Real Madrid In Champions League Clash

What a beauty of a goal it was - when Gareth Bale’s crack of a strike in the 60th minute brought Real Madrid’s lead against Juventus to 2-1 in the Champions League last night, it probably would have been just too perfect if it had ended that way. The final score of the Group B match ended with a 2-2 draw, and though both teams would have preferred a win, especially Juventus, within the last few minutes it was clear that both sides were content with just 1 point.

Not one side dominated the entire match; possession went pretty evenly back and forth with each side having their moments of power. The first goal of the match by Arturo Vidal in the 42nd minute was a penalty, and honestly with the exception of Bale’s goal, all of the others were the result of bad defending. Real Madrid equalized in the 52nd with a goal by Cristiano Ronaldo after a poor pass in the Juventus midfield, and after Bale’s goal, Juventus equalized again with a header from Fernando Llorente off of a horrid defending mistake from the Real Madrid back line.

The men of the match for me were both goalkeepers, Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon - both of whom are legends for club as well as country. The score line would have looked very different if it wasn’t for these guys both making several exceptional saves throughout the match. Unfortunately for Juventus, the single point kept them at the bottom of the Group B table. A win would have meant much more to them, and their next group matches are a must win if they expect to advance to the knockout stages.

Probably not the most exciting match of the day, but it was between two football giants which is why it was my Tuesday pick!

The moral of the story, though, os that I think we all need to just give Gareth Bale some time. After he gets his fitness back and really settles in at Real Madrid, he’s surely going to be an unstoppable force.

This video just proves what he is capable of!
