Why Walcott's Return Will Bring The Best Out Of Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil's arrival in the summer saw the nation discussing the effect that he would have on Arsenal, but not many envisaged the Gunners sitting four points clear at the top of the Premier League after 13 games - especially not after losing 3-1 to Aston Villa on the opening day. The German has been a revelation this term but has his form has dipped in the last few weeks, so I thought that I would take a minute to look at how they can get the best out him.

Ozil is a creative talent who thrives in the central position with players running off him, which is why the return of Theo Walcott has come at the perfect time. With Santi Cazorla drifting around the former Real Madrid playmaker Ozil has the chance to either interchange with the Spaniard or thread a through ball to Walcott on the right wing.

The Germany international has made 25 key passes this season - four of which have been assists - and another 14 in the Champions League.

He is running things in the attacking phases and the speed alongside him will only benefit Ozil. The runs of Walcott will also draw defenders away from Ozil who can then stroll into the space or take a pop at goal - he has hit the target with 83% of his shots so far.

The return of Walcott has come at the perfect time for Arsene Wenger, and Mesut Ozil, too.
