Defoe Agrees MLS Move - Here's Why I Think Tottenham Should Hold Onto Him

Jermain Defoe is a player who almost guarantees you goals, so to get rid of him when you're in desperate need of hitting the back of the net then in my eyes it's a poor decision. The Mirror say that the Tottenham forward has agreed a deal with Major League Soccer side Toronto FC, managed by former team-mate Ryan Nelson.

Since breaking into professional football, there hasn't been a season where the England international has failed to score, and he's currently in his 18th campaign. He has racked up 219 goals in his 500+ games and in my opinion is a far better option than Emmanuel Adebayor up top.

Roberto Soldado is the current Spurs striker and he has obvious talent, but he has not been given enough support to play to his strengths and he has struggled to score from open play since his arrival.

Defoe has failed to score in the Premier League this season but has scored nine in other competitions, and at 31 I still think he's worth keeping around.

The money they receive from the deal could help Spurs land a striker in January, but that's a risk in itself.

Being a fan of both Defoe and the Premier League, I would like to see him stay.

Spurs fans, what do you reckon?
