Arsenal eased to a 2-0 victory at Marseille this evening in the Champions League - here are five things we learned from the tie.

1) Jack Wilshere can play on the wing

He has come under a tirade of criticism so far this season as he has been pushed out wide and his performances have suffered as a result, but tonight he showed that he is capable. It took just 30 seconds for him to score a lovely goal which started from the right.

2) Arsenal need to keep hold of Sagna

There has been a lot of whispers regarding the Frenchman's future but tonight proved that Arsene Wenger should be trying to keep hold of him. He made three clearances, won 3/4 of his headers and won all three of his tackles, as well as making two interceptions.

3) Arsenal are the pass-masters

The Gunners completed 727/805 (90%) of their passes in the tie, which - compared to Marseille's 311 - is quite a remarkable feat.

4) Ozil need a rest

The German has been incredible since he arrived in north London but over the last couple of weeks he has looked tired. Tonight proved that he may need a rest in order to allow him to charge his batteries again.

5) Arsenal need a striker

Like Ozil, Giroud is looking tired. His passing is incredible and his link up play is brilliant to watch, but his legs seem to be tiring. Now that Theo Walcott is back perhaps he can fill in when needed until the new year.
