Why Eriksen's Injury Boost Is Good News For Tottenham

When Christian Eriksen limped off during Denmark's clash with Norway last week after a horrific challenge there were hundreds of heads falling limply into palms everywhere across north London. The Tottenham playmaker was rumoured to be looking at months on the sidelines because of the damage to his ankle, but it seems as though the injury was not as bad as first expected and he could be ready to return in a matter of weeks.

Andre Villas-Boas will be delighted with the news as he continues to look for the fluidity in his Spurs side to lift them up the table.

So far the White Hart Lane outfit have looked sturdy at the back but placid going forward, something which they weren't used to last term with Gareth Bale in their side.

Spurs have scored just nine goals this term, which is less than Fulham, who are in the relegation zone, despite creating the most chances in the Premier League this term (153).

Eriksen has been a huge reason for that - he has carved 18 individual opportunities, which only Andros Townsend has bettered (19). He has also hit the target with 6/7 of his shots and completed 82% of his passes.

Eriksen is a real creative force and without him Spurs' goal tally would surely have dried up even more.
