A Statistical Look At Arsenal's £8m Defensive Target

At the back end of last season there were few stronger central defensive partnerships than Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny. The Gunners' backline was controlled by the domineering Germany international and the Frenchman, but it's all gone downhill this term. Although Mertesacker continues to dominate in whatever he does, Koscielny's time has been a mixed bag. After conceding some penalties and being dismissed, it has been up to Bacary Sagna to fill in for the clumsy centre-half, while Carl Jenkinson operates at right-back.

However, Arsene Wenger supposedly has money to spend in January and has suggested that a defender, as well as a striker, is his priority.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Feyenoord's Bruno Martins Indi is an £8m target for the north London side, so here are a few statistics to show you what he's about.

The 21-year-old has already scored two goals in his eight games in the Dutch topflight and created a further three chances, which is pretty impressive for a defender. He has won 63% of his individual duels - which includes 6/8 tackles, 5/5 take ons and 6/13 headers.

The Netherlands international has averaged seven defensive actions per game and completed 84% of his passes.

Will we see him in the Premier League any time soon?
