3 Defenders Who Could Improve The Arsenal Backline

While Arsenal sit top of the Premier League, there seems to be concerns regarding their defensive unit. So, the trooper that I am, I have put together three players who I think would improve the backline.

    1) Micah Richards - Manchester City

The City right-back is almost the perfect player in terms of a move to the Gunners. Not only is he a boyhood Arsenal fan, but he's a strong, intelligent full-back who can also play in the middle. With Laurent Koscielny's dodgy form and Thomas Vermaelen's injury problems the focus is strongly on the central areas, but with the future of Bacary Sagna unclear then he would surely be in the frame as his replacement.

A powerful, flexible player who could very well solidify the Arsenal backline.

    2) Kyriakos Papadopoulos - Schalke

The towering centre-back is exactly what the north London side need, in my eyes. His huge frame allows him to dominate proceedings in the air, but he is also impressive with the ball at his feet, something which Arsenal are renowned for pressing.

He has been struggling with injury for the past year or so but he's a fine, fine player when he's fit.

    3) Ashley Williams - Swansea

The rumours have been doing the rounds for some time now but as of yet there has been no follow through. Williams is getting on a bit now and it's likely that interest in his services will decrease as his legs continue to age, but he has the technical ability and the leadership to cut it in a more prominent side, in my opinion.
