3 Reasons Why Southampton Should Keep Hold Of Juventus Target Osvaldo

According to the Mirror, Juventus are looking to sign Southampton forward Dani Osvaldo just months after he completed his move from Roma to St Marys. Here are three reasons why the Hampshire club should keep hold of him.

1) Goals

The £13m that Southampton spend on the forward was for a good reason - the Italian scored 16 goals last season for Roma in just 29 appearances. Although he has struggled for goals this term in the Premier League - He has scored just once in seven games - his movement is picking up and he is getting into the dangerous areas that he was renowned for last season in Serie A.

The 27-year-old has never been the most efficient player in front of goal - his shot accuracy stood at just 45% last season and it's at 46% this, but he does score goals, and it can only be a matter of time before he starts firing for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

2) Tactics

The way the Argentine boss likes his side to play means that Osvaldo is the best option, in my eyes, to lead the line. The pressing as a unit demands an agile-yet-powerful spearhead, and although Rickie Lambert certainly possesses the latter trait, his mobility isn't quite there, and is better playing just behind as the creative hub, in my eyes.

3) Options

Pochettino has three front men to choose from  - Lambert, Jay Rodriguez and Osvaldo. Should Osvaldo leave the club it leaves them with a stretched looking arsenal - despite the talents of the other two.
