Adnan Januzaj vs Andros Townsend - the statistics

All the hype in the Premier League right now seems to be surrounding two young wingers in the shape of Manchester United's Adnan Januzaj and Tottenham Hotspurs' Andros Townsend, after the latter went about destroying Montenegro recently on his debut. But how do the pair shape against one another in statistical terms?

Well, I have to point out that it's hard to compare directly as the United winger has played just three games, while Townsend has played six. But let's take a brief look anyway.

Januzaj made us all aware of exactly who he was when he scored a brace against bottom of the league Sunderland recently, and he also sparked debate across the nation regarding home grown talents. While he has scored two in three and created an additional two chances, it has been his dribbling and comfort on the ball for an 18-year-old that has impressed everyone.

An impressive 10/13 of his dribbles have been completed, while 50% of his six shots have been on target.

Compare that to Townsend and you can see they're very similar players. The Spurs winger has hit the target with 50% of his 16 shots and created nine chances for his colleagues. However, he has dazzled fans of the north London side with his bursts down the wings - Townsend has completed 33/48 of his take ons.

Both have impressed with their pass completion, also, with Januzaj completing 79% and Townsend 81%.

There is bound to be heaps of pressure thrown at the pair over the next few months, possibly years, so let's just enjoy their talent in our topflight.

Hold on, put this into a bit more perspective, Townsend is nearly 4 years older than Januzaj, comparing 18 year old to a 22 year old is a big difference in terms of football experience. Townsend has played for 10 different English Clubs clocking up 114 league appearances compared to just 3 for Adnan. Go back to this when Adnan has at least 10-30 times more game play.
