Why did QPR sign Tal Ben Haim?

I cannot be the only one who is wondering how Tal Ben Haim has just signed a contract with another Premier League team, can I?

I think the question that has to be asked is, does Harry Redknapp consider topflight experience to be more important than the quality of the player? Looking at this deal, the answer has to be yes.

Tal Ben Haim is one of the slowest human beings I have ever witnessed on a football pitch, so I can only anticipate the time when he comes up against the likes of Theo Walcott, Luis Suarez or Javier Hernandez.

The 30-year-old has not played a competitive game since his country's World Cup Qualifier in September and comes into a club desperate, and I mean desperate, to start winning games and climbing away from the bottom 3. So why has Ben Haim been added to a defence who are not just better than him, but also just as experienced, if not more so. Clint Hill, Ryan Nelson, Jose Bosingwa and Nedum Onouha all have of hundreds appearances in the top leagues and are all far superior than the Israeli, even Clint Hill!

I suppose it had to happen though, didn't it? The moment Redknapp took control of the club you just knew it was only a matter of time before he pulled up in front of the Sky cameras and announced that he had signed an overweight, overpaid, overrated freebie to aid them in their relegation battle.

Maybe, I have never noticed him before, but he is cheap, experienced and today looked sharp & useful.
