Ricky van Wolfswinkel: The striker that could light up the Premiership (Video)

Deadline day is fast approaching for those looking to bring in a fresh face or two for the remaining months of the domestic campaign. Over the next 36 hours or so, deals will be completed that many wouldn't have envisioned back at the beginning of January, with some raising an eyebrow due to the previously-thought impossibility of any such move.

One of those could well be Ricky van Wolfswinkel. The Dutchman has been linked with a move to Norwich City, with Chris Hughton thought to be keen on the Sporting Lisbon ace. Canaries frontman Grant Holt has again reiterated his desire to leave Carrow Road, but only should another deal to bring in a striker be completed.

van Wolfswinkel has previously been mooted with a switch to the Premiership in the past, with Manchester United showing an interest, and having netted seven times in 21 appearances in all competitions, that isn't a shock. Norwich are believed to be leading the race for the 24-year-old, as Hughton continuously looks to strengthen in order to stave off the threat of the relegation.

Sporting will, understandably, be keen to recoup as much of the £6m they spent to snare him from FC Utrecht in 2011, but it will be a small price to pay if he keeps the club in the Premiership this year.
