    Hughton Looking For Cheep-Cheap Canary

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has admitted he is looking for a new striker this January but is unable to splash the cash like Queens Park Rangers have this January.

"We want to bring in more attacking options, but people don't understand how difficult it is.

"I see QPR spending big money and bringing in Loic Remy and that's where they are and what they are able to do.

"There are a group of clubs able to do that. We have to do things our way.

"We need a player who is going to benefit what we are about and we will keep going right the way through but it's never easy."

Hughton has seen approaches for Celtic’s Gary Hooper and Swansea City’s Danny Graham knocked back but with over a week to go in the transfer window there is still hope for the Carrow Road faithful.

The £5 million bid for Hooper was rejected by SPL leaders Celtic, as was an improved offer later that week and the move for Swansea’s Danny Graham is dependent on the Welsh side finding an ample replacement.

The Canaries are lying perilously close to the relegation zone and with their top scorer, Grant Holt, having scored only 4 goals this season another goal scoring option would provide Hughton and his side with more security in preserving their Premier League status.

Strikers are not our problem. We scored tons last season and added several players to the squad in the summer. Our midfield isn't setup to attack but to defend. Tettey can't play an attacking pass to save his life and often looks like he has lead in his boots. Johnson is hot and cold. Lambert more often played Fox or Surman for creativity. Look at the pass Fox played to pick out Jackson in the last FA cup tie for example. Holt and Jackson would score plenty if the team was setup to provide them with chances. We are much more concerned with defending. But why keep defending when you're losing? We don't even change it late in a game.
