    Olsson rejection isn't a shock

With Queen's Park Rangers seriously contemplating the thought of suffering a drop down in divisions, Harry Redknapp has spoken out and voiced his disgust at the perilous position the west London side currently find themselves in.

Rock bottom of the Premiership having conceded 36 goals and five points from safety, the veteran boss is keen to drag the club out of the abyss and retain their safety in England's top footballing tier. With Ryan Nelsen also set to depart sooner rather than later, having accepted to take over at MLS side Toronto FC, QPR are in desperate need of reinforcements.

Tal Ben Haim arrived on a free, but he's hardly a knight in shining armour. Redknapp again paid head honcho Tony Fernandes a swift visit and implored with him – buy me another centre-back. The QPR chairman yielded. Despite insisting that the R's won't be spending big in January, it's been confirmed that the club have had a bid for West Bromwich Albion defender Jonas Olsson.

The Sweden international has been a mainstay in the Baggies backline since his arrival in 2008 from N.E.C. Nijmegen. Now working under the stewardship of Steve Clarke, it's no shock to see interest in the Baggies vice-captain rise significantly, what with the Baggies currently 7th Premiership.

However, it's been confirmed that West Brom have rejected a bid from QPR for Olsson, which is no surprise. The 29-year-old has been pivotal in their impressive start to the domestic campaign and to sell to a Premiership rival would only be a step backwards for Steve Clarke's side.
