Milan hope to reunite Argentine duo

AC Milan are hoping to lure Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano to the San Siro this summer as they look to reunite the former West Ham United pair.

The duo arrived in England in 2006 having played together with Brazilian giants Corinthians between 2005 at the time they arrived at Upton Park.

However, both have since one on to enjoy success elsewhere, with Tevez moving to Manchester United and then rivals Manchester City while Mascherano opting to join Liverpool followed by a big money move to European champions Barcelona.

Milan came close to snaring 28-year-old Tevez in January, but both City and the Serie A champions failed to agree a fee for the temperamental front-man.

Reports had suggested they were interested in Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie, but with the Dutchman likely to be hot property over the summer, a move for the City striker may be a more viable option for chief executive Adriano Galliani.

Meanwhile, Mascherano has failed to hold down a regular starting berth with the Catalan giants since his move in 2010 and has continuously been played out of position by manager Pep Guardiola, who has utilised the tough-tackling midfielder as a centre-back.

Both are thought to be considering moves in the summer and super-agent Kia Joorabchian is ready to assist the Rossoneri in making any possible deal happen.

The two weren’t considered unprecedented success’ when they initially arrived in England, despite many comparing their arrivals to that of Ricky Villa and Ossie Ardiles when the pair arrived at White Hart Lane back in 1978. However, Mascherano and Tevez’s arrival certainly created a similar hype to the aforementioned when they jettisoned into Upton Park on deadline day in 2010.

Both have since secured numerous accolades away from the East London Championship dwellers and are likely to heighten expectations around the San Siro should a possible transfer take place. The duo would strengthen Massimiliano Allegri’s significantly and could be shrewd acquisitions should any possible deal take place, bearing in mind the current Milan crop are approaching the wrong side of 30.
