    Nice to Michu

Swansea’s Spanish magician Miguel Michu scored his 9th and 10th league goals of the season against Norwich today in a 4-3 loss. This got me thinking, is Michu the signing of the season?

Michu has now scored 11 goals and has assisted 2 goals in 15 games this season and every time I see him play, he oozes class. He seems to have fit perfectly into a free flowing footballing Swansea side. Not only is he good with his feet, he is a great with his head. He can play in the attacking midfield role behind the striker, or simply as an out and out forward. The Swans paid just £2,000,000 to Spanish outfit Rayo Vallecano for Michu this summer this seems an absolute steal. £181,818.00 per goal so far this season, which is a lot more than can be said for some other signings that happened over the summer.

For example, so far Arsenal’s £12,000,000 summer signing Olivier Giroud has notched up just 4 goals in 15 Premier League appearances giving Arsenal a return of £3,000,000 per goal. Even striker Robin Van Persie’s move from Arsenal to Manchester United for £20,000,000 has only given them a return of £2,000,000 per goal. On these stats, Miguel Michu is great bit of business.

Last season in La Liga Michu was the highest scoring midfielder with 15 goals in 37 games, but already this season he seems well on his way to beating that record. Swansea have got a real gem and someone who gives no less than 100% every game. Let’s just hope they can keep hold of him, as I am sure there will be some bigger clubs sniffing round come January.
