    Rodgers Calls For Hunger

Brendan Rodgers has made it more than clear to any potential Liverpool players they better be committed to the cause at Anfield.

Daniel Sturridge’s move to Liverpool from Chelsea looks like hitting a snag over the player’s greedy agent wanting a cut of any sell on clause as well as a big salary. The Liverpool boss has issued a warning to any player not to get greedy and hold the club to ransom, “Players will get a good contract coming here but if they want to argue over money and other things that go around it, I don’t want them.”

Rodgers has had no hesitation at admitting his squad is short of numbers and will need adding to in the January transfer window if the club is to push for the top 4 place that Rodgers is craving to regain following some poor finishes in recent season. Although Rodgers is ready to spend he wants players that want to play for the club rather than collecting cash, "The single biggest thing for me since I walked in here is that they want to play for this club. It is part of what we need to be successful again," he explained.

"You trace back over many years at this football club and they have brought hungry players in. They were also good players, but they were all hungry. It is not rocket science.

"You have to get hungry players in who want to work and want to fight to be successful - that means wanting to pull on the shirt. That's the simple message for any player coming here. You can't take the money and run. You have to earn the right to play for this club and to help us succeed."
