    Defoe praise is warranted (Video)

It has to be said that Jermain Defoe is enjoying a second lease of life this season. The Tottenham Hotspur front-man has found the back of the net an impressive 15 times in 28 appearances for the North London outfit this year as they continue to win the plaudits this year.

Much of that is down to recently appointed head coach Andre Villas-Boas. The 35-year-old has brought in a new system and while it doesn’t appear suited to the capabilities of Defoe, the England international has improved his performances significantly to ensure the starting position is his own to lose.

There were rumours that the 30-year-old could be set to leave White Hart Lane over the summer, especially following the arrival of Emmanuel Adebayor, but Villas-Boas convinced Defoe to sign a new two-year deal and the striker hasn’t looked back since.

Now considered a guaranteed started under the Portuguese tactician, it’s no surprise to have seen Defoe lavish the praise on his boss. Villas-Boas is clearly bringing out the best in the England star, regardless of what others like to believe.

The comparisons with Radamel Falcao may’ve been a bit farfetched, but are likely to have bolstered his confidence as he continues his quest to outdo last season’s final tally.
