    Porto's Hot Rod (Video)

Some people count down the days until Christmas at this time of year, others are ticking off the days until the January transfer window opens and their club can get some dealing done.

If newspaper reports are to be believed Manchester United fans can expect a new winger in the New Year, dependant on the long debated future of Nani.

The man in question is Porto’s James Rodriguez. I’m sure fans of The Reds will be familiar with the name, after regular links with the Columbian for some time now, but not so sure of what they could be getting for £25 million.

Porto is a regular name in the Champions League, winning the competition in 2003, but the Portuguese Primeira Liga doesn’t receive a huge amount of coverage in the UK but has shipped plenty of talent to the Premier League in recent years, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Ramires and the aforementioned Nani.

For such a hefty sum in the January, a time Sir Alex Ferguson hasn’t always done much in terms of adding to his squad, United chiefs will want to be certain they are adding top talent in order to push their squad to end of season glory.

The 21 year-old winger has impressed all the right people in his career thus far and his record of 27 goals in 83 for Porto, since a €5.1 million transfer from Columbian side Banfield, proves he has more potential to be filled.

United have a decent track record of plucking talent from Portugal in recent years, fans and Fergie alike will be hoping James Rodriguez, known for his pace and dribbling ability, will emulate Cristiano Ronaldo’s successful Old Trafford career rather than Nani’s, sometimes, lacklustre stint.
